Christopher D. Stombaugh

Christopher  D. Stombaugh concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, and stray voltage damage to dairy cattle.  He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and his law degree, with honors, from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa.  He is a member of the Wisconsin and Iowa Bars.

Chris began his practice in Milwaukee with Kasdorf, Lewis & Swietlik, S.C. and represented insurance companies and the firm’s large institutional clients.  He returned home to Southwest Wisconsin and joined Kopp, McKichan, Geyer, Skemp & Stombaugh, LLP in Platteville, Wisconsin in 1995, and became a partner in the firm in 1998.  In his nearly 15 years of practice with the Kopp, McKichan firm, his practice became devoted to his true passions in the law – the service of injured tri-state families and of farm families afflicted by stray voltage.  He became a Shareholder in Laufenberg, Stombaugh & Jassak, S.C. in 2010.

Chris has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Association for Justice since 1997.  In 2009 he was elected to the Executive Committee and now serves as Treasurer of the Association.  He is also a member of the Iowa Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice.

Chris graduated from Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in 2007. He is one of only a handful of graduates from Wisconsin.  Since graduating from the Trial Lawyers College he has tried numerous cases resulting in record setting verdicts in Wisconsin and Iowa. He is a frequent speaker at bar association events in the Midwest on trial practice methods, particularly the application of cognitive science to the practice of law.

Chris has been married for 23 years to his glamorous wife, Linda. They have three nice kids,  Brittany 22, Jordan, 15, and Grace 5.
